BOSON Abrasives' multi-stone honing tools are engineered for high-precision and high-efficiency internal bore finishing, covering a diameter range from 10 mm to 200 mm. These tools incorporate multiple abrasive stones strategically positioned around the tool circumference. The honing stones are radially expanded against the bore surface via an internal expansion cone, ensuring uniform pressure distribution and consistent material removal across the entire honing area.
Compared to traditional single-stone honing tools, BOSON's multi-stone honing heads deliver significantly higher stock removal rates, improved geometric accuracy (including roundness and cylindricity), and superior surface finish quality. This makes them particularly suitable for high-production environments and applications demanding tight dimensional tolerances and functional surface structures.
We offer two primary configurations:
Single-stage honing tools, designed for conventional honing operations with a consistent expansion mechanism.
Double-expansion tools, equipped with separate roughing and finishing stages (e.g., coarse and fine abrasives), ideal for plateau honing, which produces a functional surface profile with load-bearing plateaus and oil-retaining valleys.
Each tool is custom-configured based on application-specific parameters such as bore geometry, material hardness, surface finish requirements, and machine type. Our experienced application engineers work closely with clients to define the optimal tooling solution, ensuring peak performance, tool life, and process repeatability.
Abrasive Selection
These honing tools are optimized for use with metal-bond CBN and diamond honing stones, ensuring exceptional performance, long service life, and consistent size control. Our engineer will define the most suitable honing stone grit and bond specification according to your hone part material, hardness, stock removal amount and required surface roughness.
